4-Hydroxybenzoic acid reacts with 6-hydroxynaphthalene-2-carboxylic acid to prepare aromatic polyester called Vectran fiber. It acts as a precursor to prepare p-hydroxyphenylbenzoate, p-acetoxybenzoyl chloride, and 4,4'-dihydroxybenzophenone.
