6-Azido-6-deoxy-1,2,3,4-tetraacetate-L-galactose is a natural L-galactose analog. It has been demonstrated that it inhibits the growth and survival of a variety of human infections. 6-Azido-6-deoxy-1,2,3,4-tetraacetate-L-galactose reacts with cellular structures and glycoconjugates, which might explain its antibacterial action in tissue culture.
