Results: The researchers innovatively constructed a technical method based on LC-MS/MS to efficiently and accurately simultaneously measure the content of the drug carrier β-cyclodextrin and the active pharmaceutical ingredient dextromethorphan hydrobromide. Besides, they used this advanced technology to conduct an in-depth study of the pharmacokinetic characteristics, tissue distribution patterns, excretion pathways, and metabolic processes of β-cyclodextrin in rats. Research results showed that β-cyclodextrin is almost completely cleared from rat plasma within 36 hours after administration, and it can be rapidly distributed to organs with rich blood flow after administration. However, intact β-cyclodextrin is not excreted in urine and feces at the administered dose.
