Applications
Cellulose is a polysaccharide composed of long chains of β(1,4) connected D-glucose units. It is widely used in applications that require a carbohydrate backbone, such as microfibers, biofilms, and biodegradable composite materials. It can be used in the preparation of chromatographic structure media, electrophoresis gel and ion separation, and can be used as a substrate to identify and study cellulase.
