Description
Medium-molecular-weight chitosan can be used in agriculture as a natural pesticide and plant growth enhancer. It can also be used in wastewater treatment for its ability to remove heavy metal ions. And its viscosity is 200-800 cP, 1 wt. % in 1% acetic acid.
Purity
Reported, 75~85% deacetylated.
Solubility
Soluble in dilute aqueous acid.
Applications
Chitosan can be used as a flocculant, protein precipitant, encapsulant, and aqueous thickener.
