Glycolipids play an important role in the biological process. CD BioGlyco can customize and synthesize different types and different modified glycolipids. We have confidence to be your essential research assistant in the field of glycobiology.
Glycolipids refer to lipid compounds containing sugar-based ligands. It is a type of amphiphilic molecule that exists widely in organisms. Glycolipids are an important and complex class of glycoconjugates. According to the structure of the lipid moiety (which may be diacylglycerol, polyisoprene, sterol or ceramide), glycolipids are divided into three main categories, namely glyceroglycolipids, glycosylphosphatidylinositol and glycosphingolipids, characterized by the diversity of structure and function. The main roles of glycolipids are to maintain membrane stability, promote cell-cell recognition and interaction, and affect immune response.
The general properties of glycolipids include surfactant properties, gelling properties, antimicrobial and antitumor properties. Glycolipids have great potential in the pharmaceutical and biomedical fields. Possible applications include the use of natural glycolipids or their analogs as anti-infectives or vaccine adjuvants, or to encapsulate certain drugs. Current areas of scientific interest include the synthesis of various types of glycolipids, the biological evaluation of glycolipids, the determination of structure-activity relationships, and the structural analysis of natural glycolipids.
