The pentose phosphate pathway is recognized as a major regulatory pathway for cellular biosynthetic metabolism and control to maintain cellular redox homeostasis. The PPP starts with a product of glycolytic metabolism and is divided into two stages, metabolic intermediates include 6-phosphoglucolactone, NADPH, 5-phosphoribulose, 5-phosphoribose, fructose-6-phosphate, and glycero-3 carbonic acid. PPP metabolites play an important role in the reprogramming regulation of glucose metabolism in cancer. CD BioGlyco can provide targeted metabolomic analysis services for the PPP. Samples we can provide testing services include plasma or serum, urine, saliva, cell, and tissue extracts. Typically, we use nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, and capillary electrophoresis-mass spectrometry for metabolomic analysis.

Based on our MOPCGM platform, quantitative and qualitative analysis of PPP metabolites under different treatment conditions by targeted metabolomics is the cornerstone of conducting PPP research.
Glucose metabolites are not only metabolites but also can be used for signal analysis to regulate cell signal transduction. Reprogramming of glucose metabolism reprograms the metabolic network of cancer leading to dysregulation of glucose metabolites, while cancer cells are able to adapt to changes in glucose metabolites to coordinate multiple biological processes in cancer progression. Therefore, studying the role of PPP metabolite signaling can provide insight into the process of glucose metabolism reprogramming and provide new opportunities for the development of cancer treatment strategies.
The essence of life activities comes from the complex interactions and chemical reactions between biomolecules in the body. The small molecule metabolites of glucose metabolism can be linked to proteins and play an important role in regulating the function of proteins. We are able to provide an analysis of interactions between PPP metabolites and proteins.
