Properties
Description
N-Benzyl Hexadecanamide is a long-chain amide that is used in analytical chemistry as a sample preparation agent and to extract fatty acids from biological samples. It has been shown to have neuroprotective properties by reducing the uptake of glutamate and preventing neuronal cell death. N-Benzyl Hexadecanamide has also been found to prevent tumor growth and induce apoptosis in human cancer cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit creatine kinase activity. This compound has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects, which are mediated through the inhibition of the activation of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB).
