Properties
Description
Guanabenz acetate, soluble in DMSO and ethanol and insoluble in water, inhibits the signaling pathway between G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and G proteins. It targets α2a-adrenergic receptor, α2b-adrenergic receptor, and α2c-adrenergic receptor.
Molecular Formula
C10H12Cl2N4O2
Targets
α2A-adrenergic receptor: 8.25 (pEC50); α2B-adrenergic receptor: 7.01 (pEC50); α2C-adrenergic receptor: <5 (pEC50)
Solubility
DMSO: 56 mg/mL (192.35 mM); Water: insoluble; Ethanol: 5 mg/mL (17.17 mM)
Applications
Guanabenz acetate can be used for its calming effect on certain parts of the brain involved in migraine pathophysiology, potentially reducing the frequency and severity of migraine attacks.
