Properties
Description
α-L-Iduronidase is a glycoside hydrolase enzyme that plays a key role in cleaving the non-reducing, terminal α-L-iduronic acid residues from saccharides and oligosaccharides.
Unit Definition
One α-Iduronidase enzyme unit will produce one µmol 4-methyl-umbelliferone per minute at 25°C in an assay mixture containing 0.1 mM 4-methylumbelliferyl alpha-lidopyranosiduronic acid in 25 mM 3-(N-morpholino)propane sulfonic acid buffer, pH 6.5 One Iduronate-2-sulfate sulfatase enzyme unit will produce one µmol 4-methylumbelliferone per minute at 25°C in an assay mixture containing 0.1 mM 4-Methylumbelliferyl alpha-Lidopyranosiduronic acid 2-sulfate in 25 mM 3-(N-morpholino) propane sulfonic acid buffer, pH 6.5.
Form
Aqueous solution with glycerol
Applications
α-L-Iduronidase is useful for detecting and quantifying in an assay using a fluorogenic substrate 4MU-alpha-L-idopyranosiduronic acid.
