Properties
Description
Marimastat, soluble in DMSO and warmed ethanol and insoluble in water, inhibits MMPs, enzymes that degrade extracellular matrix components, thus having potential therapeutic applications in cancer and chronic inflammatory diseases. It targets MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-14, MMP-3, MMP-7, and MMP-9.
Molecular Formula
C15H29N3O5
Targets
MMP-1: 5 nM; MMP-2: 6 nM; MMP-14: 9 nM; MMP-3: 230 nM; MMP-7: 16 nM; MMP-9: 3 nM
Solubility
DMSO: 46 mg/mL (138.8 mM); Water: Insoluble; Warmed ethanol: 6 mg/mL (18.1 mM)
Identity
Confirmed by NMR/HPLC/MS.
Applications
Marimastat is an MMP inhibitor used to investigate and inhibit matrix metalloproteinases, which are enzymes involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix components, often studied in cancer metastasis and tissue remodeling.
