Properties
Description
Pectate lyase from Agrobacterium sp. is responsible for plant cell wall decomposition by cleaving pectin through a β-elimination mechanism.
Unit Definition
One unit of pectate lyase activity is defined as the amount of enzyme required to release one µmole of galacturonic acid from polygalacturonic acid (2.5 mg/mL) per min in Tris.HCl buffer (50 mM), pH 8.0 at 40°C.
Applications
Pectate lyase from Agrobacterium sp. can be used for pectin measurement and carbohydrate research.
