Properties
Description
It is a recombinant Lactobacillus sanfranciscensis acetate kinase produced in E. coli. This product can be used to study the mode of action of the enzyme and its potential inhibitors, and can also be used as a glycoengineering tool to modify glycoprotein in vitro.
Unit Definition
One unit will catalyze the formation of 1 μmol propanoyl phosphate from ATP and propanoate in one minute at 37°C.
Source
Lactobacillus sanfranciscensis
Applications
In the presence of ATP and a divalent cation, acetate kinase, which is mostly found in microorganisms, phosphorylates acetate to enable the formation of acetyl-CoA.
