Rosmarinic acid (RA) is an ester of caffeic acid and 3,4-dihydroxyphenyl lactic acid that occurs in nature as a phenolic compound. RA has remarkable biological effects, including antiviral, antibacterial, anticancer, antioxidant, anti-aging, antidiabetic, cardioprotective, hepatoprotective, nephroprotective, antidepressant, antiallergic, and anti-inflammatory activities.
