Properties
Description
Succinic acid has been shown to have protective effects against ischemic preconditioning, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of nitric oxide. Succinic acid also inhibits alcohol dehydrogenase and has been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect in human mdr1 knockout mice. This compound is used as an analytical reagent for the determination of nitrate reductase activity in biological samples.
