CD BioGlyco has a professional carbohydrate-based glycomedicine development platform with multiple advanced technologies to help customers comprehensively progress in trisaccharides-based glycomedicine development. We expect to become customers' research assistants in the field of glycobiology and glycochemistry.
Trisaccharides are oligosaccharides composed of three monosaccharides with two glycosidic bonds connecting them. Similar to the disaccharides, each glycosidic bond can be formed between any hydroxyl group on the component monosaccharides. Even if all three component sugars are the same (e.g., glucose), different bond combinations (regiochemistry) and stereochemistry (alpha- or beta-) result in trisaccharides that are diastereoisomers with different chemical and physical properties. The major trisaccharides include raffinose, lactosucrose, and melezitose.
Trisaccharides are associated with many potentially beneficial effects. For example, lactosucrose promotes bifidobacterium multiplication, reduces intestinal pH, inhibits the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria, enhances mineral bioavailability and improves the production of short-chain fatty acids. Additionally, the consumption of lactosucrose has also been associated to other potential beneficial effects such as inhibition of body fat accumulation; enhancement of intestinal calcium absorption; prevention of colitis and inflammatory bowel disease; immunoregulatory activity; improvement of amino acid metabolism and anti-allergic activity. Therefore, the development of trisaccharides-based glycomedicine has broad prospects.
