Biodegradable Nanocellulose Development

Nanocellulose biomaterials represent a promising new generation of materials in the biomedical field. CD BioGlyco provides clients with comprehensive solutions in the development of degradable nanocellulose and provides services for the isolation, preparation, derivatization, and characterization of nanocellulose.

Properties of Nanocellulose

Nanocellulose is a fiber or crystal with a diameter of less than 100 nm and a length of several microns extracted from natural cellulose. It has many advantages, such as being non-toxic, biodegradable, excellent biocompatibility, large specific surface area, high mechanical strength, excellent optical performance, and customizable surface chemistry. There are three main forms of nanocellulose materials, namely nanocellulose fibers (NCF), cellulose nanocrystal (CNC), and bacterial nanocellulose (BNC).

Cellulose nanomaterials have attracted widespread attention as environmentally friendly, innovative, and biocompatible materials due to their natural origin and biodegradability at the end of their life circle. Because of the remarkable properties of cellulose-based composites, it is strongly advocated by researchers who are interested in state-of-the-art green resources for a variety of biomedical applications. At present, cellulose nanomaterials have been widely used in medical care, the food industry, hygiene products, and other fields, especially ideal biological materials in the field of biomedicine.
