"Grafting from"-based Polysaccharide Conjugation Services

Principle of "Grafting from"-based Polysaccharide Conjugation

"Grafting from"-based polysaccharide conjugation is a chemical modification method that uses chemical means to covalently combine polymers (e.g., proteins, PEGs, etc.) with polysaccharide structures to obtain new polymer-polysaccharide conjugates with different functions, properties, and attributes. Grafting refers to the combination of polymer chains with polysaccharide molecules to form graft copolymers, thus giving the polysaccharide molecules more chemical functionality. The basic idea of this method is to introduce reactive groups on polysaccharide molecules and then polymerize these groups to produce polymers conjugated to polysaccharides, thus achieving the goal of conjugating polymers to polysaccharides. In polysaccharide conjugation chemistry, this technique allows the attachment of reactive functional groups (e.g., amides, esters, etc.) to the surface of polysaccharides, thereby increasing the functional groups of polysaccharides. By using this chemical modification method, the physicochemical properties and biological activities of polysaccharides can be changed, thus extending their applications, such as use as drug delivery systems and biomimetic materials.

"Grafting from"-based Polysaccharide Conjugation Services at CD BioGlyco

CD BioGlyco uses advanced biochemical and bioengineering techniques to graft polysaccharides together with other molecules to form conjugates for multiple functions. We use our state-of-the-art technology and knowledge to develop custom "grafting from"-based polysaccharide conjugation procedures. We mainly provide the following services:

  • Polysaccharide conjugation service based on living radical polymerization (LRP)
We introduce free radicals into polysaccharide molecules to modify polysaccharides through the process of free radical polymerization. The free radicals on the polysaccharide chains interact with the polymer chains and eventually form graft copolymers. This approach improves the chemical and physical properties of polysaccharides and enhances their stability and biological activity.
  • Polysaccharide conjugation service based on ring-opening polymerization (ROP)
We introduce monomers of dihydropyrrolidine (THP) cis-trans isomers as grafting sites and use polymerization reactions to link them to other monomers, resulting in polymeric grafted polysaccharides. This biodegradable polymer-grafted polysaccharide exhibits excellent biocompatibility and biodegradability.
