Technologies for Polysaccharide Conjugation

Different Polysaccharides Have a Variety of Conjugation Opportunities

Polysaccharides are harmless and biocompatible natural substances. As a result, they're commonly utilized in medication delivery and other scientific studies. A bioactive substance is covalently attached to the polysaccharide backbone, either directly or through the use of a linker. Polysaccharides have a wide variety of molecular weights and a large number of functional groups that can be chemically modified. The manner of conjugation is determined by the functional groups accessible on the medication and the polymer. To connect the two, synthetic modification may be used. Linkers are utilized instead if such compatibility is not available. The linkers connect the polymer to the target molecule. The most basic polysaccharide molecules are made up of monosaccharide repeating units with just hydroxyl groups as functional groups (cellulose, starch, pullulan, arabinogalactan). The amino sugars chitin/chitosan provide chances for amine conjugation. The polysaccharide employed as an amine is seen in the image below.

Polysaccharide Conjugation Services at CD BioGlyco

Polysaccharides containing amine, carboxylic acid, and aldehyde activity are commonly utilized in conjugations. Most bioactive molecules (drugs, proteins, and nucleic acids) are easier to conjugate using typical reaction conditions or "click chemistry". CD BioGlyco has built an outstanding and top-notch lab and established an excellent production and analysis platform for clients.

For chemical-based conjugation, polysaccharides can be used as alcohol, amine, carboxylic acid, and so on. Based on the several groups, CD BioGlyco offers chemical-based custom conjugation services. Besides the chemical-based conjugation, CD BioGlyco also provides physical crosslinking-based polysaccharide conjugation services including Ionic crosslinking-based and thermogelation-based conjugation.

Applications of Polysaccharide Conjugation
