Limax Flavus Lectin Production Service

Limax Flavus Lectin Production Service

The Biological Functions of Limax flavus Lectin (LFL)

Lectins are a group of proteins that interact with glycoproteins and glycolipids by binding to specific carbohydrate residues. LFL has high specificities for N-ace- and N-glycolylneuraminic acid. Hemagglutination of erythrocytes by Limax flavus extracts is strongly inhibited by N-acetylneuraminic acid and N-glycolylneuraminic acid, and to a lesser extent by glucosamine (GlcN), N-acetylglucosamine, galactosamine, and N-acetylgalactosamine. The lectin's macromolecular properties suggest that the LFL has excellent potential as a discriminator for sialic acid-containing glycoproteins.

LFL Production Service at CD BioGlyco

CD BioGlyco has many years of successful experience in Natural Lectin extraction. The extraction and analysis of LPL due to its excellent binding ability to sialic acids will strongly contribute to the development of glycobiological. We aim to provide clients with high purity, high specificity LPL production service.

  • Extraction & Purification Services

We mainly extract the lectins from the viscera of the Limax flavus. Remove the surface mucus first by eviscerating and removing it. For a time, soak the viscera in some kind of buffer. Break the tissue and obtain the supernatant for spare use. Collection of samples using an agarose column to purify them after multiple steps, including precipitation, centrifugation, and dialysis. The collected fractions are stored at -80°C after dialysis. It is worth mentioning that our company strictly controls the time, temperature, and the eluate concentration in the production.

  • Profiling Services
  • Chemical analysis

We offer amino acid analysis of LFL by amino acid analyzer. Our specialized technicians offer a wide range of analytical services for different types of amino acids. Protein samples are measured at a high temperature after being boiled. Cysteine is measured after the peroxinic acid has been oxidized. Tryptophan and tyrosine using chromatography to analyze.

  • Physical measurements

We provide accurate sedimentation velocity and equilibrium measurement services through advanced instruments.

  • Microarray assay

Based on the excellent binding ability of LPL to sialic acid, we provide efficient LPL Microarray Assay service. Professional technicians customize microarray screening according to client's requirements and provide fluorescent labeling and data analysis services.

Applications of LFL

  • LFL discriminates terminal sialic acids present in different ketosidic linkages.
  • LFL is applied to study the localization of sialic acids in tissues and organs.
  • Using FITC and gold-labeled LFL to analyze the changes in the nature of cell surface glycan distribution sites.
