Lotus tetragonolobus Lectin (LTL) Production Service at CD BioGlyco

CD BioGlyco has a number of experts in lectins to support tailored Lectin Production services. LTL was discovered in 1948 and consists of 240 amino acid residues. It is a glycoprotein consisting of four subunits and requires metal ions for carbohydrate-binding activity. Currently, LTL has been isolated from L. tetragonolobus seeds. It is found to agglutinate human O(H) erythrocytes. It also recognizes N-acetylglucosamine antigen on carbohydrate chains. At present it is used in the detection of certain diseased tissues in the kidney and so on, which has a good application prospect. Based on this, we develop a one-stop LTL production service. A wide range of products are available.

L-fucose is found to have the strongest inhibitory effect on LTL. It also has carbohydrate specificity for β-fucose. Our production service is based on the sugar-binding specificity of LTL and reported methods obtained by chromatography and affinity precipitation purification. With our extensive experience in Plant Lectin Production, we successfully extract high-purity LTL from L. tetragonolobus seeds. We also use purified LTL producing a variety of lectin conjugates including colloidal gold conjugate, biotin conjugate, etc. All products are validated by various methods.

Applications of LTL Production

  • We produce LTL for the detection of glycan antigens on their recognized carbohydrate chains.
  • We produce LTL that is used for glycan localization and change detection, which helps to screen for new disease markers.
  • We have fluorescently labeled LTL, including FITC conjugate and rhodamine conjugate, which is used for lectin staining.
