Nucleoside-based 5-Methyluridine Production Service

Role of 5-Methyluridine

With the increasing number of AIDS patients worldwide, there is an urgent need for inexpensive, effective, and safe drugs. AIDS is caused by infection of the body with an immunodeficiency virus. The virus is highly mutable, it infects and kills immune cell populations, and ordinary antiviral drugs are ineffective. In recent years, with the development of science and technology, research on AIDS has become more in-depth and many effective drugs have been developed. Nucleosides are important therapeutic tools for the treatment of viruses, AIDS, and tumors. 5-methyluridine is an important intermediate for nucleosides and deoxynucleosides, and therefore it is very urgent to study it. Specifically, 5-methyluridine is a compound with the molecular formula of C10H14N2O6, which is an important intermediate for synthesizing a series of gene therapy drugs such as anti-AIDS drug zidovudine (AZT), stavudine (D4T) and 5-deoxyfluorouridine. Therefore, the development of 5-methyluridine drug intermediates has a better market prospect.

Nucleoside-based 5-Methyluridine Production Service at CD BioGlyco

At CD BioGlyco, we have comprehensively studied the production of 5-methyluridine and its application in drug synthesis. First, for the production of 5-methyluridine, we offer both biosynthetic and Chemical Synthesis Methods.

  • Biosynthesis
We mainly utilize enzyme catalysis to produce 5-methyluridine. In this route, we provide enzyme purification and enzyme immobilization services to improve the production efficiency and quality of 5-methyluridine.
  • Chemical synthesis method
The chemical synthesis route is still carried out under catalytic conditions through condensation, and hydrolysis reaction. This method effectively separates the isomers of 5-methyluridine. Meanwhile, the total yield of this route reaches more than 90%, which is an excellent method for mass production of 5-methyluridine.

Secondly, regarding the use of 5-methyluridine, CD BioGlyco produces several drugs for the treatment of AIDS using 5-methyluridine as a raw material.

Applications

  • 5-Methyluridine could be used as a raw material for the production of anti-AIDS drugs.
  • 5-Methyluridine could be used to develop antiviral drugs.
  • 5-Methyluridine could be used in the development of antibiotics.

Advantages

  • 5-Methyl uridine has a good therapeutic effect on viruses, so its production helps to study the structure of viruses and the principles of their production.
  • The production of 5-methyluridine helps to explore the physiological functions of uridine.
