With the increasing number of AIDS patients worldwide, there is an urgent need for inexpensive, effective, and safe drugs. AIDS is caused by infection of the body with an immunodeficiency virus. The virus is highly mutable, it infects and kills immune cell populations, and ordinary antiviral drugs are ineffective. In recent years, with the development of science and technology, research on AIDS has become more in-depth and many effective drugs have been developed. Nucleosides are important therapeutic tools for the treatment of viruses, AIDS, and tumors. 5-methyluridine is an important intermediate for nucleosides and deoxynucleosides, and therefore it is very urgent to study it. Specifically, 5-methyluridine is a compound with the molecular formula of C10H14N2O6, which is an important intermediate for synthesizing a series of gene therapy drugs such as anti-AIDS drug zidovudine (AZT), stavudine (D4T) and 5-deoxyfluorouridine. Therefore, the development of 5-methyluridine drug intermediates has a better market prospect.
