Nucleoside-based Thymine Production Service

Characteristics of Thymine

Thymine is a pyrimidine base isolated from the thymus gland, with the chemical formula C5H6N2O2 and the appearance of white crystalline powder. Thymine is one of the four basic bases in the composition of DNA and has certain pharmacologic effects. It can produce anticancer effects when combined with certain drugs. It is commonly used clinically as the main chemotherapeutic agent for the treatment of malignant staphylococcus and chorionic epithelial carcinoma, and can also be used for the treatment of breast cancer, digestive tract tumors, ovarian cancer, and primary bronchial lung cancer as adjuvant chemotherapy and palliative treatment. In combination with other deoxyribonucleosides (e.g., deoxycytidine, deoxyguanine, deoxyadenosine), it significantly promotes wound healing, an effect that has been demonstrated in vivo in animals. Thymine has also been used as an intermediate for the synthesis of a series of antiviral (e.g., HIV, hepatitis) drugs.

Nucleoside-based Thymine Production Service at CD BioGlyco

Thymine plays an irreplaceable role in physiology as well as in medicine, so a comprehensive study of its production is necessary. At CD BioGlyco, we provide thymine preparation and analysis services. In the preparation of thymine, we focus on biological extraction and Chemical Synthesis:

  • Bioextraction
The process of this method used by CD BioGlyco is as follows: the thymus gland is defatted and minced to make a homogenate, which is then centrifuged at high speed, heated, and cooled to obtain the first step product; it is then dissolved using an organic solvent, filtered, and dried to obtain the crude product; finally, the crude product is centrifuged, filtered, and purified by column chromatography to obtain thymine. This method is green and environmentally friendly and is an effective method for the extraction of thymine.

  • Chemical synthesis
We offer a chemical synthesis method that includes some routes and yields up to 60%.
    • Preparation of thymine from acetic acid derivatives by a process of hydrogenated cyclization
    • Acid-catalyzed cyclization of thymine from propionitrile derivatives
    • Thymine from thymine by acid-catalyzed cycloaddition of chloride as raw material with a metal catalyst
    • Preparation of thymine from esters by acid and inorganic metal salt-catalyzed cyclization

In addition to the synthesis of thymine, we also offer thymine application services. Thymine can be used in biochemical and nutritional studies and as a culture medium. For example, thymine is used as a template for the synthesis of fluorescent copper nanoclusters and as a specific mercury ion adsorbent.

Applications

  • Thymine can be used as a specific mercury ion adsorbent.
  • Thymine can be used in research for the production of anticancer drugs.
  • Thymine can be used as a raw material for the production of antitumor drugs.

Advantages

  • We have a wide range of thymine production methods to help researchers explore its biological activity in depth.
  • Thymine we produced helps to study the structure and function of thymine nucleosides.

CD BioGlyco has a specialized team of researchers studying thymine with many years of manufacturing experience. We provide custom manufacturing services of thymine for our clients. If you are interested in our services, please contact us promptly.
