Thermogelation-based Polysaccharide Conjugation Services

Principle of Thermogelation Technology

The principle of thermogelation technology is to take advantage of the low critical solubility temperature (LCST) property of thermosensitive polymers. At temperatures below LCST, the thermosol remains in liquid form, while at temperatures above LCST, the thermosol forms a gel through a gelation process. By controlling the temperature change, repeated reversible transitions between liquid and gel states can be achieved. In thermogelation technology, a specific recognition ligand for the target molecule is usually added to the thermosensitive polymer solution to make it bind specifically to the target molecule. Polysaccharide conjugation reaction based on thermal gelation technology refers to the conjugation of polysaccharides with other molecules, proteins, or drugs, through the process of thermal gelation for applications such as modification, functionalization, or drug delivery of polysaccharides. The principle is mainly through a combination of hydrophobic and electrostatic interactions, where substances with hydrophobic or charged amounts interact with polysaccharides to achieve polysaccharide conjugation.

Thermogelation-based Polysaccharide Conjugation Services at CD BioGlyco

CD BioGlyco offers  the right support and specialized knowledge in the development of your glycobiology program. We design different procedures to provide customized polysaccharide conjugation services based on diverse Technologies according to the scientific needs of our clients, including the thermogelation method. The specific services are as follows:

  • Polysaccharide conjugation services based on electrostatic interactions
Formation of electrostatic conjugated structures through conjugation reactions of polysaccharides with oppositely charged molecules. The conjugated structure formed is discrete and the molecules are widely spaced, making it suitable for your molecules with high requirements for reversibility and modifiability.
  • Polysaccharide conjugation services based on hydrophobic interactions
Polysaccharides as a hydrophobic core are conjugated with other hydrophilic molecules through hydrophobic interactions. This thermogelation system provides high stability and forms stable gel states in solvents. The high structural stability of these gel systems is commonly used in materials science and drug delivery.
