CD BioGlyco focuses on the latest discoveries in the synthesis, characterization, and applications of carboxymethyl chitosan to develop comprehensive solutions and efficient procedures for the preparation of carboxymethyl chitosan. Our top-notch research team will work with you and customize carboxymethyl chitosan to your specific needs to accelerate your R&D vision.

Biomedical Applications of Biodegradable Carboxymethylated Chitosan

The insolubility of chitosan in water and common organic solvents limits its extensive research and application in many fields such as biomedicine. Therefore, increasing the water solubility of chitosan through degradation and modification and improving its antibacterial and bacteriostatic activity has become an important direction of chitosan research. Carboxymethylation of chitosan was shown to help surmount this hurdle. The introduction of -COOH significantly improved the water solubility of chitosan, and the coexistence of -COOH and -NH2 groups made chitosan have better biocompatibility, moisture absorption, and moisture retention, antibacterial properties, etc., which greatly expanded the value and application scope of chitosan.

Carboxymethyl chitosan is an important water-soluble chitosan derivative with many medical effects, such as promoting wound healing, hemostasis, scar inhibition, analgesia, and bacteriostasis. Carboxymethyl chitosan has good biocompatibility and biodegradability and is widely used in hydrogel and wound healing biomaterials and tissue engineering matrix materials. Furthermore, carboxymethyl chitosan is easily processed into nanoparticles, making it more suitable for drug delivery, biosensors, and gene therapy.
