CD BioGlyco is committed to providing clients with professional technical consultation and solution formulation in the field of biodegradable chitosan-hyaluronic acid development. Our first-class research team will customize chitosan-hyaluronic acid to your specific needs to accelerate your R&D vision.
Hyaluronic acid is a chain polymer formed by a β-1,4-glycosidic chain with β-D-N-acetylglucosamine and β-D-glucosesulfonic acid as structural units. Both hyaluronic acid and chitosan are polysaccharides with excellent biocompatibility, and they have special biochemical effects in living organisms. For example, hyaluronic acid can be used as a joint lubricant and wound healing agent; chitosan also has an antibacterial effect as a wound healing agent. These two polysaccharides have been widely used in the fields of drug carriers and tissue fillers.
Hyaluronic acid and chitosan have both similarities and complementarities in structure and performance. Under certain pH conditions, hyaluronic acid is negatively charged, while chitosan is positively charged. They are attracted to each other by electrostatic force. The water-holding capacity and viscoelasticity of the hydrogel formed by cross-linking of hyaluronic acid are better than those of chitosan hydrogel, but the mechanical strength of chitosan hydrogel is better than that of hyaluronic acid. Therefore, it is a feasible and efficient strategy to prepare chitosan-hyaluronic acid composite gels with different properties by controlling the reaction conditions to make up for the lack of chitosan gels with high brittleness, insufficient viscoelasticity, and water-holding capacity.
