Results: In this study, researchers synthesized poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA)-chitosan nanoparticles and loaded them with two near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent dyes, IR-780 iodide and Nile blue (NB). The researchers imaged the PLGA-IR-780-NB loaded nanoparticles using an IVIS visualizer. The researchers studied the weak absorption peaks of the two dyes in the blue light region and determined the optimal conditions for fluorescence excitation. PLGA-chitosan nanoparticles loaded with NIR fluorescent dyes exhibit significant phototherapy effects and imaging properties in human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive tumor cells.
