CD BioGlyco develops Biodegradable Materials with good biocompatibility and applications using naturally sourced carbohydrates, including Monosaccharides, Disaccharides, Oligosaccharides, and Polysaccharides, as raw materials. Sucrose is found in a wide range of plants and is produced from renewable, inexpensive natural resources. As a disaccharide, it is an attractive biomaterial with many potential properties such as a large number of hydroxyl functional groups, non-toxicity, and hydrophilicity. We provide a high-quality sucrose-based biodegradable material development service to support our clients' research in the fields of food, cosmetics, and medicine. The materials we develop include hydrogels, wood adhesives, etc.
We are skilled in a variety of traditional processing techniques (e.g., compression molding, injection, extrusion, foaming, and casting) or some newer techniques (e.g., reactive extrusion) related to the preparation of biodegradable materials. We choose the appropriate method for the preparation after determining the experimental program. Pure sucrose-based materials may have certain disadvantages, such as lower mechanical properties and sensitivity. We develop versatile biodegradable materials by chemically introducing other functional groups (quaternization, -SH, -NH2, etc.) to expand the applicability of sucrose-based materials. We also mix sucrose with other substances to improve the properties. Finally, we test the physical, chemical, and biological properties of the material to ensure quality.

Results: In the present study, a sucrose-based hydrogel particle was synthesized by microemulsion polymerization technique using divinyl sulfone as a cross-linking agent. The degradation characteristics, cytotoxicity, and potential of the particles in microbial culture media were also investigated. The results showed that the particles can be used in microbial culture and are harmless to the selected cell lines within a certain concentration range. Also, the particle is degradable at different pH values (i.e. acidic, alkaline, and neutral) and is a good biomaterial. This study provides data support for the development of biodegradable materials based on sucrose.
